it was his first collaboration, maybe not his best work, but more fun than most of what he'd done. She gave the advice, he the ideas. What was the hardest for them was to come up with something new, and if asked later, they would've simply admitted that they took to the human fantasies where they pulled this creature from. Sometimes, those beasts truly had ideas worth working on.
And I will never tell you where that's from.
This started out as a sketch from a story I was working on before I got too angsty over hunger to continue on it, and ended up this... stone dragon thingy. But I like it nevertheless. Kinda. The feathers were a massive pain in the ass and didn't come out the way I wanted them to, but boo-hoo, it's done now and next time I'll know better. v^v
And now for the useless information!

Really beautiful detail in the feathers. I love dragons that are obviously inspired by dinosaurian anatomy - they always tend to have a sense of anatomical realism to them that classical fantasy dragons often lack.
Thank you! I have to agree with you on that. That, and more plausible than the "modern" dragons that are long, slender and oftentimes have thicker necks than torsos...
I saw some wips on tumblr, and back then I was already like "I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THIS. IT'S GOING TO BE AWESOME" And as I said. THIS IS AWESOME. Those clouds in the background are wonderful, they really add a lot of interest in the background! And those feathers are just amazing! I love how layered and wonderfully rendered they look! Brilliant work, the only thing I would like to add as a sort of critique is, I think this painting would really pop with a bit more dynamic lighting, but as it is, I already think this looks pretty damn amazing!
I won't change the lighting since I don't even know what you mean with more dynamic lighting, but thank you for the critique. I did toggle with the levels, though, so hopefully it's at least a bit better now. D:
